The International Journal of Asia Pacific Studies or IJAPS (ISSN 1823-6243) is an award-winning electronic journal (e-journal) published by Penerbit Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM Press).
Designed towards fulfilling one of the principal missions of the Asia Pacific Research Unit (APRU) of the School of Humanities, Universiti Sains Malaysia, IJAPS is a scholarly, multidisciplinary, internationally refereed publication that aims to provide a critical space to facilitate the advancement of original and/or significant research, knowledges and ideas, including cutting-edge theoretical developments and new research directions, in relation to the Humanities and Cultural Studies in Asia Pacific.
The journal welcomes research on Asia (West, South, Southeast and East), Australasia, and the Pacific Rim regions of the Americas (North, Central and South) in the following disciplines: politics, history, indigenous languages, literature, religion, man and the environment, ethno-history, anthropology, cultural heritage, social issues, economic development, war and conflict resolution, and the arts

We would like to inform you of an important update regarding our journal’s publication schedule. Starting 2025, we will be changing the publication cycle, with the issues published in February and August instead of January and July.
This decision has been made to ensure that we continue to deliver the highest quality content to our readers. By adjusting our schedule, we aim to allow more time for a thorough peer review and editorial process to ensure that each issue meets the rigorous standards you expect from us.

Announcement: ICHAP 2025
We are pleased to announce that IJAPS is one of the collaborating journals with The International Conference of the Humanities in Asia Pacific (ICHAP), to be held from 16–17 October 2026 at the School of Humanities, Universiti Sains Malaysia, in Penang, Malaysia.
IJAPS welcomes selected high-quality papers as a regular submission, which will be considered for publication in a 2026 issue. This is contingent upon the journal’s standard review process and adherence to its terms and conditions. Please note an Article Processing Charge (APC) is applicable upon acceptance of the article.
Please note that ALL queries related to the conference publication should be addressed to ICHAP committee members. We will not entertain any queries related to this matter.
