The January 2026 issue presents research from scholars across eight countries: Malaysia, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Oman, Indonesia, Palestine, Libya, and Sudan. The collection examines Islamic jurisprudence through classical and applied lenses, addressing financial architecture, family law, ritual practice, and socioeconomic governance. Studies explore Muḍārabah-based Shariah frameworks for Afghan Islamic banking, Islamic financing mechanisms for SME-driven financial inclusion in Tajikistan, the comparative jurisprudence of wiping over socks, waṣiyyah as an instrument of intergenerational wealth transmission, the influence of the five major legal maxims on Indonesian economic fatāwā, nushūz in comparative Afghan-Malaysian family law, the Qur'anic methodology in countering hoarding across psychological and social dimensions, Sadd al-Dharāʾiʿ and the maqṣad of life preservation through Maliki fatāwā, maqāṣid-grounded governance of zakāh institutions, jurisprudential and legal responses to war damages in Sudan, Islamic ethics among university students through thematic analysis, and the jurisprudential and societal implications of Nikāḥ al-Shighār in Afghanistan. The issue reflects sustained scholarly engagement with both foundational legal methodology and urgent contemporary challenges facing Muslim communities across conflict zones, transitional economies, and established institutional contexts.

Special Issue
Vol. 9 No. 3 (2025)This special issue is the output of the Scholarship Advancement Program (SAP) of the years 2023 and 2024, organized by the Department of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh, Abdul Hamid Abu Sulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). This issue comprises of eleven research papers, six of which are in Arabic and five in English, written by the lecturers of this department on several interesting and beneficial topics of Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh.

The collection examines Islamic jurisprudence through contemporary lenses, addressing financial systems, social phenomena, and methodological frameworks. Studies explore Murābaḥah financing for minorities, coffee jurisprudence, Islamic gold dinar strategies, zakat eligibility for displaced persons, maqāṣid-based regulatory principles, religious-life preservation priorities, sustainable Islamic finance, waqf fund management, Malaysian familial challenges, and qiyās applications in modern muamalat. The issue demonstrates sophisticated integration of classical Islamic legal methodology with pressing contemporary issues across diverse Muslim contexts.

The collection explores Islamic jurisprudence in contemporary contexts, covering financial instruments, social matters, and methodological approaches. Studies examine third-party loans, cash waqf, zakat, divorce, marriage rights, Ibadi reasoning, and Malaysian fatwa methodology, particularly regarding interfaith marriage through i'tibār al-ma'ālāt. The issue evaluates modern business practices from Islamic perspectives, showcasing the integration of Islamic jurisprudence with contemporary challenges.
