Affect Grid

The Affect Grid is a two-dimensional emotion rating tool that allows participants to rate their current emotional state along two axes: arousal (sleepy to aroused) and valence (unpleasant to pleasant). Participants click on a 9x9 grid to indicate their emotional state, with the position representing the combination of arousal level (vertical axis) and emotional valence (horizontal axis). This single-item measure provides a quick assessment of emotional state that can be used as a baseline measure, repeated during an experiment, or used to track mood changes over time. The grid format allows for nuanced reporting of emotional states ranging from calm/content to anxious/stressed to sad/depressed to excited/happy.
