The PEBL Digit-Symbol Substitution Test (DSST)

This is a digit-symbol substitution task based on the Wechsler Digit Symbol Substitution Test (DSST). Participants learn a mapping between digits (1-9) and symbols (or letters) shown at the top of the screen, then respond to probe stimuli using either keyboard or clickable buttons. The test can be configured for multiple modes: traditional symbol→digit (like DSST), reverse digit→symbol, or letter→digit (backward compatible with letterdigit task). Measures processing speed, attention, and working memory.
